Liza Minnelli Receives the 1st-Ever Liza Minnelli Award at 2026 GLAAD Media Awards

The EGOT-winning icon was honored for her recent memoir, Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!

LGBTQIA+ media advocacy group GLAAD held its 37th Annual GLAAD Media Awards March 5 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, an evening that saw the inaugural Liza Minnelli Storyteller Award bestowed upon Minnelli herself, for her recently released memoir Kids, Wait Till You Hear This! 

"I'm so glad to be with you, all of you," said Minnelli upon accepting the award. "You make me so proud 'cause you're strong and you stand up for what you believe in." See her remarks in the video above, complete with a "New York, New York" kick line.

Hosted by Broadway alum Jonathan Bennett (Spamalot), the event begins streaming on Hulu March 21, but you can go inside the starry evening in the photo gallery below.

Along with Minnelli's honor, the evening saw the Vanguard Award going to Quinta Brunson and the Stephen F. Kolzak Award going to Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, with other wins for the casts of Heated Rivalry, The Traitors, Palm Royale, Stranger Things, Southern Hospitality, and The Weekend With Jonathan Capehart and Eugene Daniels.

The annual honors recognize outstanding fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQIA+ people and issues across the genres of film, television, gaming, music, podcasting, journalism, Spanish-language media, and more. GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis serves as executive producer of the event alongside GLAAD's Rich Ferraro and Anthony Allen Ramos. Jose Useche is producer.
