Olivia Newton-John, who passed away August 8 at the age of 73, rocketed to stardom in the 1978 film version of Grease, playing the wholesome Sandy opposite the Danny of John Travolta. The Grease score, however, wasn't the Grammy winner's only brush with musical theatre; in fact, the beloved artist, who boasted one of the purest pop voices of her time, wrapped her beautiful tones around several other songs from the stage.
Among the tunes was the anthem from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita, "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," which Newton-John performed on U.S. TV in 1978 on The Midnight Special. Watch that striking performance above, and enjoy her wonderful covers of other theatre tunes below.
