Casting is now complete for Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of James Graham’s Punch, which will begin previews September 9 prior to an official opening September 29 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on Broadway.
Punch centers around Jacob, a young man who makes a fatal mistake that lands him in prison. As he struggles to accept the consequences of his actions, he finds an unusual source of salvation: the parents of the boy he killed.
Directed by Adam Penford, the cast will feature the previously reported Camila Canó-Flaviá (Network, Patriots) as Clare/Nicola, Will Harrison (A Complete Unknown) as Jacob, Sam Robards (American Beauty, The 39 Steps) as David/Raf’s Dad, and Lucy Taylor (Betrayal) as Mum/Wendy.
The company will be completed by the newly announced two-time Tony winner Victoria Clark (Kimberly Akimbo, The Light in the Piazza) as the victim’s mother, Joan, with Cody Kostro (Six Degrees of Separation) as Raf/Sam and Piter Marek (Cyrano de Bergerac) as Tony/Derek/DS Villers.
The upcoming production will also have scenic and costume design by Anna Fleischle, lighting design by Robbie Butler, original music and sound design by Alexandra Faye Braithwaite, movement direction by Leanne Pinder, dialect coaching by Ben Furey and Charlotte Fleck, and casting by Caparelliotis Casting and Kelly Gillespie. Richard A. Hodge is the production stage manager.
Two-time Olivier winner Graham (Labour of Love, Dear England) is returning to MTC, where his Olivier-nominated Ink received six Tony nominations, including Best Play, in 2019.
Based on Jacob Dunne's book Right from Wrong, Punch premiered last year at the Nottingham Playhouse, also directed by Penford. In a rare occurrence, Punch will play simultaneously on Broadway and in London’s West End this fall. Both productions are directed by Penford.
Punch is presented in association with Nottingham Playhouse, where Penford serves as artistic director.
