The Tony Awards Administration Committee met November 20 for the first time this season to issue rulings on the 2025-2026, jointly deciding where productions and artists will be considered for this year's Tony Award nominations if different from the standard protocols. Productions discussed included Call Me IzzyMamma Mia!, Art, Waiting for Godot, Punch, Ragtime, Liberation, Little Bear Ridge Road, and The Queen of Versailles.

A date for the 2026 Tony Awards has not yet been announced, nor when we can expect this season's nominations.

Many of the rulings are fairly expected. Movement director Leanne Pinder has been ruled eligible in the Best Choreography category for her work on the play Punch, and 59 Studio's projection design will be considered alongside Adam Honoré and Donald Holder's lighting design for Ragtime.

Normally, actors who are above the show title in the opening night Playbill are considered leading, while actors underneath are supporting. The bulk of the Tony's decisions were to categorize actors that are not being billed with leading- or supporting-level billing in their shows' Playbills. Of particular note, Joshua Henry and Brandon Uranowitz will both be considered in the Best Leading Actor in a Musical category in Ragtime, setting up a similar face-off that was seen between Brian Stokes Mitchell and Peter Friedman in the musical's original 1998 run. In 1998, neither won, with the category going to Alan Cumming for his work as The Emcee in Cabaret.
