TDF (formerly known as Theatre Development Fund) has announced the recipients of the 2024 TAP Plus grants. In partnership with the New York State Council on the Arts, TDF administers these funds to help New York's cultural institutions make programming more accessible to patrons with hearing loss. 

This year, 28 organizations throughout New York State will receive a total of $135,000 (up to $5,000 each) to increase audio accessibility, particularly open and closed captioning services. 

“Removing physical and invisible barriers to attendance is at the heart of TDF’s mission and purpose. This 25-year partnership with NYSCA allows us to share resources with our larger community and to make theatre even more inclusive for audience members with mild to severe hearing loss,” states TDF Executive Director Deeksha Gaur. “What’s exciting is that this year 14 of the organizations will be first-time recipients of TAP Plus grants.”

The 2024 TAP Plus recipients include Atlantic Theater Company, BRIC, Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Curiosity Cabinet, Educational Alliance, EPIC Players, Fiasco Theater, Geva Theatre Center, Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, Kyoung's Pacific Beat, La MaMa, MCC Theater, National Dance Institute, The New Group, New York Theatre Barn, New York Theatre Workshop, Perelman Performing Arts Center, Pipeline Theatre Company, Playwrights Horizons, The Public Theater, Second Stage Theater, SheNYC Arts, Signature Theatre, Symphony Space, Syracuse Stage, Theater Breaking Through Barriers, Theatre for a New Audience, and University Settlement Society of New York.
