Tony and Emmy Award winner John Lithgow will hit the big screen in the film adaptation of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary, in theatres April 5, 2019.
With a screenplay by David Kajganich and Jeff Buhler, the film, directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer, also stars Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz.
The movie chronicles the horror story of the Creeds, who move to a house nestled in seemingly lovely woods that are actually a death trap. Lithgow plays Jud Crandall, who informs the Creeds of the terrifying mythology of the Pet Sematary in their own backyard.
When the movie premieres, Lithgow will also bow on Broadway in the new play Hillary and Clinton, which is slated to begin preview March 16 ahead of an April 18 opening.
A two-time Tony winner for The Changing Room (his Broadway debut) and Sweet Smell of Success (his Broadway musical debut), Lithgow most recently appeared on Broadway earlier in 2018 in his solo show Stories By Heart. His other Main Stem credits include Tony-nominated turns in Requiem for a Heavyweight, M. Butterfly, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and The Columnist.
