The Olivier Award-nominated jukebox biomusical The Drifters Girl will release a world premiere cast recording May 6.
It features the new musical's original cast, including singer and stage actor Beverley Knight (The Bodyguard), Olivier winner Adam J. Bernard (Dreamgirls), Tarinn Callender (Hamilton), Olivier winner Matt Henry (Kinky Boots), and Tosh Wanogho-Maud (Show Boat). They portray members of the popular doo-wop band The Drifters, and their manager, Faye Treadwell.
The album was produced by orchestrator and arranger Chris Egan, along with the musical's co-producers Will Stuart and Trystan Francis. It will feature the full band from the production, newly filled out with some auxiliary musicians. Popular songs on the tracklist include "Stand By Me," "Saturday Night at the Movie," and "Under the Boardwalk."

Originally scheduled to conclude its run March 26, The Drifters Girl has extended booking to February 12, 2023. Directed by Jonathan Church (Singin’ in the Rain), the musical charts the rising fame of the famed vocal group and their manager, who fought to make them globally renowned. The production is nominated for two 2022 Olivier Awards, including a Best Actress in a Musical nod for Knight and Best New Musical.
The show features a book by Ed Curtis, set design by Anthony Ward, choreography by Karen Bruce, costume design by Fay Fullerton, orchestrations and musical supervision by Chris Egan, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Tom Marshall, and video design by Andrzej Goulding.
