New York Theatre Workshop has set dates for their previously announced starry production of Moliére's Tartuffe, which will perform at the Off-Broadway company beginning November 28 ahead of a December 16 opening night. The limited run, featuring a new script by A Doll's House, Part 2 playwright Lucas Hnath, will continue through January 11, 2026. Obie winner Sarah Benson (Teeth) is directing.

As for that starry cast, that will be led by Matthew Broderick in the title role, opposite Emmy Award winner David Cross (Arrested Development) as Orgon, Obie Award winner Emily Davis (Is This A Room) as Mariane, RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Bianca del Rio as Mme Pernelle, Tony Award nominee Amber Gray (Hadestown) as Elmire, Obie Award winner Ryan Haddad (Dark Disabled Stories) as Damis, 2025 Tony Award winner Francis Jue (Yellow Face) as Cleante, Tony Award winner Lisa Kron (Fun Home) as Dorine, and Emmy Award nominee Ike Ufomadu (Ziwe) as Valére.

Also newly revealed are some new creative team members, including choreographer Raja Feather Kelly and composer Heather Christian. They join a previously announced group featuring scenic designer dots (Oh, Mary!), costume designer Enver Chakartash (I Love You So Much I Could Die), lighting designer Stacey Derosier (Lights Out: Nat “King” Cole), and sound designer Peter Mills Weiss (The Headlands). Kasson Marroquin (Wet Brain) will serve as production stage manager.

This Tartuffe is different from the one that will run at Off-Broadway's House of the Redeemer and led by Tony winner André De Shields. That Tartuffe runs October 3-November 23 and will welcome an audience of 100 people nightly.
