Pitt Crew: Actors From The Pitt You Can See Onstage
Theatrical training seems to be an asset on the HBO medical drama.
April 11, 2026 By Playbill Staff
Lately, it seems that everyone is talking about The Pitt, the HBO medical drama that follows a group of medical professionals through every hour of an emergency department shift. And if you're a theatre lover who also spends their spare time in The Pitt, you would notice that it's kind of structured like a play: with its dialogue-filled, character-driven drama, containing long scenes on a single set.
It was also recently announced that The Pitt season two finale will screen in Alamo Drafthouse movie theatres April 13. But if you're a fan of the series, you'll know this isn't the first time that the medical drama and theatre have intersected.
Many actors from the show are also making appearances on the stage this spring. From Broadway to Off-Broadway to regional, plays to musicals, scroll down to see which members of the Pitt crew you can see perform live. Be sure to catch these actors before they leave the stage since season three of The Pitt is likely to begin filming in June.
Isa Briones
Theatre lovers were first introduced to Isa Briones (daughter of Tony nominee Jon Jon Briones) when she played Eurydice in Hadestown on Broadway in 2024, with her dad as Hermes. Well, while she was in Hadestown, she also booked the role of Trinity Santos in The Pitt, the intern-turned-doctor. And though she has a steady television gig, it seems theatre is a true love of hers: Briones is currently playing Connie Francis in Just in Time on Broadway, belting out "Who's Sorry Now" with attitude, and trading her scrubs for mid-century dresses. If you want to see the serious Dr. Santos belt out "Who's Sorry Now" with attitude, head over to Circle in the Square Theatre.
Patrick Ball
Patrick Ball plays Dr. Frank Langdon on The Pitt, who makes some morally suspect moves (putting him in conflict with Isa Briones' Dr. Santos). So in his spare time in between filming, he's working on something a bit lighter with Becky Shaw on Broadway. In the comedy by Gina Gionfriddo, Ball plays Andrew who sets his brother up on a disastrous blind date. Though it's a play and not as bloody, fans of The Pitt will have plenty to enjoy in Becky Shaw, which similarly features not-so-upstanding characters in not-ideal-yet-still-relatable situation. Let Ball make you laugh in the theatre before he shocks you on television.
Sepideh Moafi
Sepideh Moafi just joined The Pitt in season two, but already she's got fans talking as Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, whose arrival (and fascination with AI) places her into immediate conflict with the other doctors. From May 8–June 8, Moafi can be seen Off-Broadway in New Born. Moafi will share a stage with Hugh Jackman and Marianna Gailus, as each person performs a monologue that share a thematic strand about relationships, identity, and change. So if you want to see Moafi in a different mode, at center stage instead of one actor in a large cast, New Born runs at the Minetta Lane Theatre.
Lucas Iverson
When he's not playing student doctor James Ogilvie on The Pitt, Lucas Iverson is spending time at home. Born and raised in Baltimore, Iverson will take the stage in his hometown theatre acting in the Shakespeare Theatre Company's production of Othello May 19–June 28. He will play the upstanding Cassio, with Tony winner Wendell Pierce in the title role. He'll be a less polarizing character than James Ogilvie, but his exit (it is a Shakespearean tragedy after all) will be no less dramatic.
