The first Broadway revival of Neil Simon's Plaza Suite, starring Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker, begins performances February 25 at the Hudson Theatre. The production was originally planned for the spring 2020 season, but theatres shuttered just one day before previews were set to begin. The long-awaited opening night is now set for March 28.
John Benjamin Hickey directs the three-act comedy, which finds real-life couple Broderick and Parker playing three different couples each spending an evening in the famed Plaza Hotel: one couple dealing with difficulties in their marriage on their 24th anniversary, a pair of high-school sweethearts reuniting after many years apart, and the frenzied parents of a jittery bride on her wedding day. Plaza Suite marks the first time Broderick and Parker have worked together since they appeared as J. Pierrepont Finch and Rosemary Pillkington in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in 1996.
