A new writers residency has been launched by LDK Productions in order to support the development of new original plays and musicals.
Called the LDK Writers’ Residency @ CAM Studios for Playwrights and Composers, each residency offers one full week of exclusive studio access at CAM Studios, providing playwrights and composers with uninterrupted time in a professional environment to write, explore, and experiment. Unlike programs that lead up to a public presentation, this residency is a wholly private affair for artists to create without a looming public deadline.
“Writers need uninterrupted time and space to dream, draft, and take risks,” said Lisa Dozier Shacket, president of LDK Productions. “This residency is about giving artists the freedom and resources to push their work forward, without distraction or financial strain, in a supportive and professional environment.”
Three residencies will be awarded annually on a rolling basis. Playwrights and composers are invited to apply via email to [email protected]. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and should include a one- to two–page letter of intent detailing creative goals for the residency, a history of the project's origins and current status, bios for the primary creative team, script and materials for the project, and, if applicable, demos.
Selected applicants will be contacted directly to arrange residency dates. For more information, visit LisaDozierProductions.com.
