Bran Castle: The Musical, a new vampire musical by Donald Nolan, will receive private industry presentations February 19 and February 20.
Directed by Simon Phillips (Priscilla Queen of the Desert), Bran Castle centers on Mirela, a young Roma slave in the mountains of 19th century Eastern Europe. As political upheaval upends the life she once knew, she finds herself torn between Vladimir, the conflicted Count of Bran Castle; and Carmilla, a powerful vampire countess determined to usurp the throne. With the freedom of the Roma people on the line, and revolution at the door, love and duty collide.
The cast for the presentations will include Lenka Z as Mirela, Aidan Cole as Vladimir, Katie Webber (Chess, The Great Gatsby, Wicked) as Carmilla, Aléna Watters (West Side Story, Mrs. Doubtfire, Bad Cinderella) as Vadoma, Justin Sargent (Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark, Bonnie & Clyde) as Beaublair, and Chloé Nadon-Enriquez (Chess, Bad Cinderella) as Miss Jia.
The ensemble will include Darius Aushay, Natalie Ballenger, Cameron Mitchell Bell, Tzintli Cerda, Kabir Gandhi, and Jonathan Gabriel Mousset.
The work features a book, music and lyrics by Nolan. The creative team includes music director Nate Patten, arranger Sam David, orchestrator Christopher Jahnke, associate director Will Pomerantz, and costume and set designer Gabriela Tylesova. LDK Productions is the general manager, with casting by Geoff Josselson. Louis Crocco is the production stage manager and Zachary Sayre and Alden Kennedy are the assistant stage managers. The readings are produced by Que Sera Sera Productions and Mary Maggio, with executive producer Lisa Dozier Shacket.
