Jelani Alladin (The Walking Dead World Beyond, Frozen), Noah J. Ricketts (American Gods, To My Girls), and Linus Roache (Batman Begins, Richard II) have joined cast of the new Showtime series Fellow Travelers.
As previously reported, Olivier winner Jonathan Bailey (Company, Bridgerton, Cock), Emmy nominee Matt Bomer (The Normal Heart, The Boys in the Band), and Allison Williams (Get Out, Girls, Peter Pan Live) will star.
Based on the novel by Thomas Mallon, Fellow Travelers chronicles the four-decade, volatile romance of two men who meet in the shadow of McCarthy-era Washington: Hawkins Fuller (Bomer), who avoids emotional entanglements, and Fordham University graduate Tim Laughlin (Bailey), who is brimming with idealism and religious faith.
Alladin will play Marcus Hooks, a journalist covering the Senate beat while confronting the racism he encounters daily; Ricketts will play Frankie Hines, a drag performer who works in the underground gay nightspot Cozy Corner; and Roach will play Senator Wesley Smith, a career politician and family man who is like a father to Hawk.
Created by Oscar nominee Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia), the eight-episode series is executive-produced by Bomer and Nyswaner with Robbie Rogers. Daniel Minahan will executive produce and direct the first two episodes; Fremantle co-produces with Showtime.
Filming will begin later this month in Toronto.
