Broadway power couple Andy Karl and Orfeh will host the 2018 Chita Rivera Awards, honoring the best in dance on stage and screen. The ceremony will take place May 20 at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.
Orfeh will return to Broadway this summer in Pretty Woman, beginning performances July 20 at the Nederlander Theatre. Karl last appeared on Broadway in Groundhog Day, for which he earned a Tony nomination after winning an Olivier for the London world premiere. The two previously shared the stage in Legally Blonde (for which Orfeh earned a Tony nod) and Saturday Night Fever.In addition to the presentation of competitive and honorary awards, the evening will feature performances by Carousel’s Brittany Pollack and Andrei Chagas, Summer Tony nominee Ariana DeBose, Bastard Jones’ Evan Ruggiero and Marc Acito, and a preview of the upcoming Beast of the Jungle by Tony Yazbeck and Irina Dvorovenko, as well as performances by Stephanie Pope, Harvey Fierstein, Ben Crawford, Bryonha Marie Parham, Lindsey Croop, Georgina Pazcouguin, and Calvin Royal III.
Presenters will include 2018 Tony nominees Jessie Mueller and Norbert Leo Butz, plus Joel Grey, Ben Vereen, Jeremy Jordan, Maurice Hines, Lea Salonga, Gavin Creel, Patricia Birch, Len Cariou, Laura Osnes, Robert Fairchild, and Karen Ziemba.
