About the Role:
Join the Summerstock 2026 team as a Camp Counselor and help create a supportive, fun, and artistically vibrant environment for young performers. As a Counselor, you’ll live on-site and play a key role in both the residential life and creative programming of camp. This position is ideal for responsible, enthusiastic individuals passionate about theatre, youth mentorship, and camp life.

Key Dates:

• July 30-31: Offsite training begins in Montclair, NJ

• August 1: Onsite training begins in Elmer, NJ

• August 2: Campers arrive

• August 17: Campers depart

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise camper living spaces and be accountable for campers during cabin times (mornings, rest periods, nights).

• Foster a safe and inclusive cabin environment through a shared cabin agreement and chore chart.

• Work scheduled shifts at the Camp Store or Snack Bar.

• Lead 1–3 elective-style workshops (90 minutes each).

• Support productions by assisting with props, costumes, tech, or creative roles (e.g., Assistant Director or ASM)

• Help plan and run daily and evening activities (e.g., swimming, field games, campfire).

• Supervise assigned areas during camper free time.

• Be available for overnight duty shifts as assigned.

• Uphold all camp policies and model professionalism, safety, and inclusion.
