Assistant Stage Manager – A Beautiful Noise 2nd National Tour
Position Overview:
ABN Touring LLC is seeking a Non-Equity Assistant Stage Manager for their touring production of A Beautiful Noise. Created in collaboration with Neil Diamond himself, A BEAUTIFUL NOISE is the uplifting true story of how a kid from Brooklyn became a chartbusting, show-stopping American rock icon. With 140 million albums sold, a catalogue of classics like “America,” “Forever in Blue Jeans,” and “Sweet Caroline,” an induction into the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and sold-out concerts around the world that made him bigger than Elvis, Neil Diamond’s story was made to shine on Broadway, where the biggest stars tell their story.
The Assistant Stage Manager supports and assists the Production Stage Manager with managing and maintaining the creative aspects of the show and is an integral part of the road management team for the tour. Theatrical touring experience preferable.
Role and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Assist the Production Stage Manager in:
o Maintaining the artistic integrity of the production according to the director’s vision.
o Managing rehearsal process (understudies, replacements and brush-ups)
o Keeping the blocking, tracking and technical documentation up to date.
o Managing/running technical rehearsals
o Scheduling daily, weekly and long-term aspects of the show
o Drafting and proofing reports
· Call all show cues, including deck, rail, automation, lighting, and audio.
· Run and maintain deck tracks, ensuring safety of actors and crew, and train local crew members on cues
· Focus part of the conventional LX package.
· Maintain a positive attitude and demeanor as a member of the road management team.
· Adhere to and uphold show safety protocols and drug free workplace policies.
· Other duties as assigned, depending on show-specific needs.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
· Minimum 1 year of stage management experience, preferably on tour.
· Ability to build and maintain relationships with co-workers and venue personnel.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task.
· Ability to maintain poise and control under pressure.
· Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a demanding workload.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Dropbox
Work Environment:
This role is expected to help create a professional work environment and is required to work in a variety of locations and venues. Must be able to travel, and work evenings, weekends and holidays. Must be able to adapt to multiple buildings / theater venues. Must be able to be on their feet throughout the show and traverse several flights of stairs. Must be able to travel in multiple modes of transportation, including planes, trains, charter and sleeper coaches, and cars.
