After appearing in the film adaptation of Into the Woods, Billy Magnussen has been tapped for another fairy-tale mashup. The Tony nominee will lead CBS All Access’ straight-to-series thriller Tell Me a Story.
According to Deadline, the streaming series will weave the stories of Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, and the Three Little Pigs into a modern, New York-set tale involving greed, revenge, and murder. Magnussen will play Nick, a high school teacher trying to track down a girl from a one-night-stand—and perhaps taking things too far.
Liz Friedlander will direct and executive produce the first two episodes of the series, from Kevin Williamson and Aaron Kaplan.
Magnussen, who earned a Tony nomination for his performance in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, recently appeared in the comedy Game Night. His upcoming film credits include Disney’s live-action Aladdin, The Oath, and Velvet Buzzsaw.
