Shit. Meet. Fan by Robert O'Hara remains one of the hottest tickets in New York. MCC Theater has announced the show will now have a second (and final) extension through December 15. The play hasn't even begun performances yet. The run starts October 10, with an opening night of October 28. The show has a starry cast that includes Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Krakowski, Debra Messing, and Constance Wu.
The show will also added a performance for November 9, though Harris will be out that day.
Shit. Meet. Fan. is based on the 2016 Italian film Perfetti Sconosciuti (translated to Perfect Strangers), which is about a dinner party that goes off the rails when one attendee says that no relationship can survive if a person has access to their lover's phone. The film is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most remade film of all time, with 24 remakes in different languages (an English-language remake fell through because the English film rights are owned by Harvey Weinstein).
The play is written and directed by O'Hara (Slave Play). The cast also includes Garret Dillahunt, Genevieve Hannelius, Tramell Tillman, and Tony nominee Billy Magnussen. The show's understudies are Lennox T. Duong, DeLance Minefee, Jesse Pennington, Olivia Reis, and Jessica Rush.
Shit. Meet. Fan. will also feature scenic design by Tony winner Clint Ramos, costume design by Tony nominee Sarafina Bush, lighting design by Alex Jainchill, and sound design by Tony nominee Palmer Hefferan. Imani Champion is the production stage manager. Casting is by The Telsey Office.
The limited engagement is produced in association with Eva Price, Simon Horsman, and Gianni Nunnari.
