Lincoln Center Theater has completed casting of its upcoming one-night-only staged concert of Man of La Mancha, set to serve as the company's Spring Gala May 18 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. As previously announced, the evening will be directed by LCT executive producer and prolific Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher and star internationally acclaimed tenor Rolando Villazón as Cervantes and Don Quixote.
Newly revealed to be joining him are Tony winner Lindsay Mendez as Aldonza and Dulcinea; Harvey Guillén as Sancho Panza; Phillip Boykin as Governor and Barber; Patrick Page as Captain of the Inquisition and Innkeeper; Adam Dannheisser as Duke, Dr. Sanson Carrasco, and Knight of the Mirrors; Tony winner J. The ensemble will include Matías de la Flor, Charlie Franklin, Jacob Guzman, Michael Mendez, Justin Lee Miller, Frank Viveros, and Clyde Voce.
Man of La Mancha was written by Dale Wasserman with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion. Featuring a score of enduring songs, including “The Impossible Dream” and “Dulcinea,” the musical celebrates the perseverance of one man who refuses to relinquish his ideals and who is determined to see life not as it is, but as it ought to be.
The performance will feature costume design by Catherine Zuber, lighting design by Donald Holder, and projection design by 59 Studio.
