Mamma Mia! originally opened in London at the Prince Edward Theatre April 6, 1999, before transferring to the Prince of Wales Theatre in 2004, and then to the Novello Theatre in 2012. It reopened in the West End following the pandemic August 25, 2021.
The tale of a mother, a daughter, and three possible dads on a Greek island paradise subsequently played 14 years on Broadway, first at the Winter Garden Theatre, then at the Broadhurst. A Broadway revival is currently back at its original home at the Winter Garden.
Mamma Mia! is produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East and Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal.
From & Juliet to Something Rotten! to The Frogs, the Bard has been a central character in several shows, from ahistorical musical comedies to reference-drenched dramas.
