See Stephanie J. Block, who is nominated for a 2017 Tony Award for her performance in the Broadway revival of Falsettos, chat about the show and what it meant to her on AOL Build’s live series. While she wasn't able to reveal much about her upcoming performance at the Tony Awards ceremony, she did say that the entire cast—seven actors, four of whom are nominated—would reunite onstage for the special event.

Block was candid about the ways in which motherhood had influenced her performance as Trina—the mother to a young boy at the center of Falsettos. The actor said that she could not help tearing up onstage during the Bar Mitzvah scene, and that director James Lapine would constantly send her notes to “stop crying.”
“How I approached playing Trina as a real-life mama was very different,” Block told the host. “What made me laugh or what made me tear up before having a baby was different. I was now listening with the ears of a mom.”
Block is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for her performance in the Broadway revival of Falsettos. The show, which closed on Broadway January 8, is nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Revival.
