The College of New Jersey’s Lyric Theatre will offer A Jason Robert Brown Celebration April 17 at 7:30 PM in the Kendall Main Stage Theater.
The fully staged revue—including songs from Brown's Parade, The Bridges of Madison County, Songs for a New World, 13, and more—will spotlight student performers Olivia Ayala, Anthony Berchie, Justin Drayton, Emily Golding, Lauren Goldsborough, Jazailis Gual, Meghan Hatley, Nicole Henry, Aidan Hulse, David Laraus, Ella Malatesta, Anthony Masefield, Ava Milsom, Emma Milsom, Alyssa Mouzon, Ella Osbeck, Isabella Percontino, Griffin Petry, Tara Richardson, Maxim Shumylo, Silver Williams, and Amelia Zakroff.
In addition to the students, the evening will feature recent Hadestown star Solea Pfeiffer, also seen in Almost Famous,
the City Center Evita, and Brown's Songs for a New World.
Lyric Theatre Director Nathan Brewer says the event is an opportunity to "study [Brown's] body of work, to learn directly from him, to perform his songs with a Broadway star who is associated with the composer [and] is unparalleled by any other higher education program."
Students had the opportunity to attend a workshop with Brown this past February in Manhattan, where they had the chance to perform for the Tony-winning composer and received feedback.
Brown is a three-time Tony winner for Parade (Best Original Musical Score) and The Bridges of Madison County (Best Orchestrations and Best Original Score Written for the Theatre).
