Stage favorites Skylar Astin, Betsy Wolfe, and Michael Urie will star in the Kennedy Center’s upcoming presentation of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, running June 6–10 at the Eisenhower Theater.
Astin (Pitch Perfect, Spring Awakening) will star as J. Pierrepont Finch, with Wolfe (Waitress, Falsettos) as Rosemary Pilkington and Urie (Broadway’s upcoming Torch Song, Ugly Betty) as Bud Frump—a role he played on Broadway in the 2011 revival.
The cast will also include D.C. favorite Nova Payton as Miss Jones. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Marc Bruni will direct, with Denis Jones serving as choreographer and Todd Ellison as music director.
The Frank Loesser, Abe Burrows, Willie Gilbert, and Jack Weinstock musical is the next title in the Kennedy Center's Broadway Center Stage series, which assembles Broadway and local talent for semi-staged concert presentations of musicals. How to Succeed... follows Chess and In the Heights; next year's lineup will include Little Shop of Horrors, The Music Man, and The Who's Tommy.The Tony- and Pulitzer-winning musical tells the story of a window washer who climbs the corporate ladder to high-powered executive with the help of a handbook.
The production, which just added a seventh performance to its five-day engagement, will feature sets by Scott Pask, costumes by Amy Clark, lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski, and sound design by Brian Ronan.
