TIME has revealed the 2025 TIME100 Next list, and an array of theatrical names have been highlighted!

The Next annual list recognizes 100 emerging leaders from around the world. Inside the magazine, the 100 are interviewed by another highly regarded person in their field, sharing insights into their process and plans for the future.

This year, Jonathan Bailey, Helen J Shen, Sanaz Toossi, Lola Tung, and Kara Young were all named. Olivier winner Bailey was a cover star, interviewed by his Wicked co-star Ariana Grande. 

Grande introduced Bailey to the list with the following praise: “I first met Jonathan Bailey at dance rehearsal for Wicked. I was nervous because I have always found him so brilliant…from the moment we met, I felt like I was giggling with someone I had known for 20 years. I felt so immediately safe, connected to, and obsessed with my new scene partner and friend. I can’t even begin to describe what a privilege it is to see just how thoughtful he is about his craft and also how generous he is with himself on such a demanding level…Nothing Jonny takes on is without the intention of somehow giving back to the community…I’m so thankful that I get to spend so much time with this incredibly gifted, playful, and caring human being who is so endlessly curious about art and life and the many which ways they intertwine. I’ll forever be along for the ride.”

The piece also includes messages from Sarah Bareilles on Shen, Lynn Nottage on Toossi, Jenny Han on Tung, and Leslie Odom, Jr. on Young.
