Broadway News MJ to Stream Opening Number "Beat It" Live on TikTok

The Broadway musical has announced a special opportunity go behind-the-scenes, ask cast members questions, and see the first number live from the Neil Simon Theatre.

Airing live directly from the Neil Simon TheatreMJ is collaborating with TikTok to livestream the musical's opening number, "Beat It," September 29.

In addition to bringing the performance to audiences everywhere, the live airing will begin at 6:45 PM ET with a look backstage, giving TikTok users a chance to go behind the scenes and participate in Q&As with members of the cast. The opening number will begin at 7 PM ET with Tony winner Myles Frost as Michael Jackson.

Following the number, TikTok will again take viewers backstage for a chance to win two tickets to see the show.

TikTok has worked with theatre productions and festivals to bring the stage to the screen for users around the world. The platform has also given rise to original TikTok musicals like For You, PaigeRatatouille the Musical, and the Grocery Store Musical.

Inspired by the life and art of the late Michael Jackson, MJ opened February 1 at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre, having begun previews December 6, 2021. 2022 Tony winner Myles Frost makes his Broadway debut as the King of Pop in the musical, which features a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and a score made up of some of the most popular songs in recording history. Tony winner Christopher Wheeldon directs and choreographs. Orchestrations for the musical are also by Holcenberg and Webb.
