New York Theatre Workshop has added two weeks to the run of its upcoming starry revival of Moliére's Tartuffe, which will perform at the Off-Broadway company beginning November 28 ahead of a December 16 opening night. The limited run, featuring a new script by A Doll's House, Part 2 playwright Lucas Hnath, will now continue through January 24, 2026. Obie winner Sarah Benson (Teeth) is directing.
As for that starry cast, that will be led by Tony winner Matthew Broderick in the title role, opposite Emmy Award winner David Cross (Arrested Development) as Orgon, Obie Award winner Emily Davis (Is This A Room) as Mariane, RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Bianca Del Rio as Mme Pernelle, Tony nominee Amber Gray (Hadestown) as Elmire, Obie winner Ryan J. Haddad (Dark Disabled Stories) as Damis, 2025 Tony winner Francis Jue (Yellow Face) as Cleante, Tony winner Lisa Kron (Fun Home) as Dorine, and Emmy nominee Ikechukwu Ufomadu (Ziwe) as Valére.
The revival's creative team also includes choreographer Raja Feather Kelly, composer Heather Christian, scenic designer dots (Oh, Mary!), costume designer Enver Chakartash (I Love You So Much I Could Die), lighting designer Stacey Derosier (Lights Out: Nat “King” Cole), and sound designer Peter Mills Weiss (The Headlands). Kasson Marroquin (Wet Brain) is serving as production stage manager.
This Tartuffe is different from the one currently at Off-Broadway's House of the Redeemer, led by Tony winner André De Shields. That Tartuffe runs through November 23 and is welcoming an audience of 100 people nightly.
