The 2022-2023 season at Off-Broadway's Keen Company will include a revival of Lynn Nottage's Crumbs from the Table of Joy and a performance by Kathleen Chalfant, who will star in a site-specific production of Joan Didion’s The Year of Magical Thinking. The season will run September 12–April 1, 2023.

Following its 2007 Broadway debut at the Booth Theatre, the Didion work will be directed by Keen Company Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein in living rooms and community spaces across New York City. Tony nominee Chalfant, seen on Broadway in the original cast of Angels in America, will lead the one-woman show, adapted from Didion's memoir of the same name. The story recounts the author's journey of loss and grief, and the resilience of the human heart. Performances will occur October 19-November 20, with venue details to be announced.

Nottage's Crumbs from the Table of Joy will be directed by Colette Robert and presented with support by Rosalind Productions. Along with The Year of Magical Thinking, this will be the show's first New York revival. The play takes place in the 1950s and follows 17-year-old Ernestine Crump, who relocates to an "unwelcoming" neighborhood in Brooklyn with her family after the passing of her beloved mother. The show will begin performances February 21, 2023 for a run through April 1 at Theatre Row. Opening night is set for March 8.

"I am honored to be reuniting with Kathleen Chalfant, who was last seen on the Keen stage in A Walk in the Woods giving an enthralling Drama Desk-nominated performance," says Silverstein. "Kathy and I have been dreaming of working on Joan Didion’s masterful play, The Year of Magical Thinking, for quite some time. In February, Keen is thrilled to welcome Colette Robert to direct the first New York revival of Lynn Nottage’s beautiful play, Crumbs from the Table of Joy. I have long been a fan of this early work of Lynn’s."

The new season will kick off September 13 with the company's 23rd Annual Benefit Gala. The evening, set for Manhattan Penthouse, will feature an open bar, sit-down dinner, and performances. The company will also continue with their 2022 Keen Playwrights Lab and their Keen Teens program.
