Disney+ has released a trailer for its upcoming live action adaptation of Pinocchio, which will premiere September 8 on the streamer. The movie stars Tom Hanks as wood-carver Geppetto, Oscar and Tony winner Cynthia Erivo as Blue Fairy, and Schmigadoon's Keegan-Michael Key as Honest John. The trailer includes a tease of The Color Purple performer Erivo singing "When You Wish Upon a Star" from the movie. Watch the full video above.
The live action retelling is directed by Robert Zemeckis and follows the well-known tale of a wooden puppet who embarks on an adventure to become a real boy. The title character is portrayed by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, and the cast features Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, Lorraine Bracco as the original character Sofia the Seagull, and Luke Evans as The Coachman.
The movie is produced by Zemeckis, Derek Hogue, Andrew Miano, Chris Weitz. and Paul Weitz, with Jackie Levine, Jack Rapke, Alexandra Derbyshire, and Jeremy Johns as the executive producers.
