Rehearsals are underway for the world premiere of Sanaz Toossi’s English. The production is set to begin performances with Atlantic Theater Company February 3 before officially opening February 22. The limited engagement is scheduled to play the Linda Gross Theater through March 13.
English tells the story of a group of adults in Iran preparing for the TOEFL in an "English Only" classroom. The production stars Tala Ashe (The CW's DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), Ava Lalezarzade (Off-Broadway debut), Pooya Mohseni (Chonburi Hotel & The Butterfly Club), Marjan Neshat (NYSF's Julius Caesar), and Hadi Tabbal (The Vagrant Trilogy).
Directed by Knud Adams, English will feature scenic design by Marsha Ginsberg, costumes by Enver Chakartash, lighting by Reza Behjat, sound design by Sinan Refik Zafar, and casting by Stephen Kopel, CSA. Alex Hajjar will serve as production stage manager.
