The West End-aimed Chaka Khan jukebox biomusical I'm Every Woman has set a world premiere run at London's Peacock Theatre in 2026, with performances to run March 5-28. The work features a book by Nia T. Hill, and will be directed by Racky Plews and choreographed by Jade Hackett.
The musical has been in the works since at least 2023, when a workshop was held in London, also directed by Plews. Hill is new to the project, succeeding former book writer Tina Andrews. Producer Adrian Grant has been leading the project, in association with Khan herself.
Along with telling the story of Khan's life and career, the musical features her most loved songs, including "I Feel For You," "Tell Me Something Good," "Ain't Nobody," "Sweet Thing," "Higher Love," "Through the Fire," and, of course, the title track. Included in Khan's story are run-ins with Joni Mitchell, Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Robert Palmer.
“Many of you know that my life has always influenced my music—but you may not know the full story," says Khan in a statement. "I've lived a rich, beautiful, and sometimes difficult life, and now those experiences will come alive on stage in I’m Every Woman: The Musical. It’s the greatest honor to have my journey and work celebrated in this way. London holds a special place in my heart, and I can't wait to share this moment with the fans who have sung, danced, and stood by me through it all. I’ve always wanted to inspire joy, truth, and love—and I know this musical will be filled with all of that and more. This is for you!”
Willette Klausner Murphy is co-producing for WMK Productions.
