An industry reading of Andy, Keith & Jean-Michel, billed as "A Musical Fantasy," will be held June 13 at 2 PM at Smash Studios in Manhattan.

Reimagining the rivalry and friendship among artists Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, the invitation-only reading will be directed by Joe Barros (Gigi).

The cast will include Christiana Cole (The Devil Wears Prada) as Andy, Matthew McGloin (Primal Instinct) as Keith, Elijah Caldwell (A Strange Loop) as Jean-Michel, and Janice Landry (Dear Edwina) as fictional gallery owner Madison.

Penned by Peabody Award winner Matthew Puckett (Hopkins, Rebel Genius), the musical follows the relationship between the three brilliant artists as they struggle to create art: Andy, Keith & Jean-Michel imagines their world, conversations, and experience as a chamber piece.

“The inner lives of artists are completely invisible to us. All we see is the exteriorization of their pain and joy. But what lives within is something so rich and universal,” says Puckett. “This musical is a fantasy, based on truth, born of a time (the 1980s) when the superficial was dominant. But the surface is deceiving. It is my hope that, by expressing their lives in song, this show can bring us closer to the incredible work, beauty, and inspiration forged by these three iconic artists.”

Anthony McCarten's The Collaboration, which explored the relationship between Warhol and Basquiat, made its Broadway premiere at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre this past season via Manhattan Theatre Club featuring Jeremy Pope and Paul Bettany as Basquiat and Warhol, respectively.  A film adaptation of that play is reportedly in the works.
