Broadway Shark Tank, a pitch program for new musicals that allows writers to present their original work to industry experts and potential backers, has announced their inaugural participants.

Presented at Open Jar Studio April 14, the 7 PM live presentations will feature Will Wilson Save the World (music by Michelle Lugo with book and lyrics by Lyndsey Chance), Savage The Musical (music and lyrics by Nicolette Blount with a book by Blount and Lindel Hart), Like Father (music, lyrics and book by Jacob Ryan Smith, with Caroline Pernick), Hide & Seek (music, lyrics and book by Danny Feldman), Figaro (music, lyrics, and book by Ashley Jana, co-conceived by Ashley Jana and Will Nunziata), and Yasuke - The Black Samurai (music and book by Bálint Varga, lyrics by Azusa Fujikura and Joe Barros, additional poems by Paul Laurence Dunbar).

The Broadway Shark Tank panel will include Tom Smedes, Meredith Lucio, Adam Weinstock, and Kumiko Yoshii.

Each team will have 8 minutes to describe the project, and present one or two songs. Audience members will then be allowed to vote on their favorite pitch following feedback, with the group consensus pitch receiving free rehearsal space to develop their musical. Additionally, one audience member will also receive free membership to the Open Jar rehearsal studio.
