Broadway Licensing is now offering keyboard programming rentals through KeyboardTEK for select titles, including Head Over Heels, Escape to Margaritaville, Clue, Summer, and more. The move adds Broadway Licensing's catalog to KeyboardTEK's extensive library of keyboard programming rentals, which additionally covers musicals licensed by Music Theatre International and Concord Theatricals, among others.
“Having known and worked with [KeyboardTEK Co-Founders] Kevin [Roland], Ethan [Deppe], and Taylor [Williams] for many years now, I am thrilled that they have launched a company aimed at providing the highest-quality keyboard patches and sequencing to theatres around the world,” says Broadway Licensing Senior V.P. of Music and Creative David Abbinanti. “Their musicianship and attention to detail is so highly respected by the musicians in our industry. It’s incredibly exciting to be partnering with them.”
“On behalf of KeyboardTEK, we are thrilled to offer our catalog of electronic music programming for many of the most popular shows that Broadway Licensing offers,” says Roland. “Because we work with many of the top keyboard programmers and orchestrators on Broadway and the West End, our sounds are authentic and super easy to use no matter what level of theatre may be producing these titles.”
The tool is the latest measure helping amateur, school, and regional theatre companies more easily meet the technological demands of modern musicals, which has become more and more necessary. With pits no longer limited to acoustic instruments, many orchestrations have gone past simple keyboard programming to include sequenced synth parts using software platforms like Ableton. KeyboardTEK saves music directors from having to figure out this tech themselves, often providing the exact sounds used in Broadway pits.
