Spring Preview 2023 Presented by Cadillac

Playbill proudly presents our first ever Spring Preview. Here, we take a deep dive into some of the most anticipated shows coming up in NYC. Pictures From Home

A comic and dramatic portrait of a mother, a father and the son who photographed their lives. Based on the photo memoir by Larry Sultan, Pictures From Home will evoke memories of childhood, parenthood, and the vicissitudes that comprise familial relationships.


A Doll's House

First Preview: February 13, 2023
Opening Date: March 9, 2023

Academy Award® winner Jessica Chastain stars in this thrilling reinvention of Ibsen’s A Doll's House. Directed by Tony® nominee Jamie Lloyd, one of contemporary theater’s most revolutionary auteurs, and adapted by acclaimed playwright Amy Herzog, this new production makes freshly relevant a story that shocked audiences and brought forth a new era of theater.


Bad Cinderella

First Preview: February 17, 2023
Opening Date: March 23, 2023

From ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER comes a fairy-tale musical comedy, featuring an original story and book by Oscar®-winning writer EMERALD FENNELL (Promising Young Woman, “Killing Eve”) and lyrics by Tony Award® winner DAVID ZIPPEL (City of Angels). Choreographed by JOANN M. HUNTER (School of Rock) and directed by LAURENCE CONNOR (Les Misérables).


Parade

First Preview: February 21, 2023
Opening Date: March 16, 2023

Following a sold-out run last fall at New York City Center, Tony Award® winner Ben Platt and Micaela Diamond will bring their acclaimed performances to Broadway in two-time Tony nominated director Michael Arden’s new production of Parade.


Sweeney Todd

First Preview: February 26, 2023
Opening Date: March 26, 2023

For the first time since 1980, Broadway audiences will experience Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award®–winning score as it was performed in the original production—with Jonathan Tunick’s classic 26-piece orchestration on an epic scale. Tony-winning director Thomas Kail helms the return of this epic musical thriller, starring Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford.


Dancin'

This anthology of dance vignettes, using a wide variety of styles, existing songs and no book, is directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse.


Shucked

Opening Date: April 4, 2023

It’s time to put the “culture” back in agriculture with the show that inspired audiences to give a "crop" about musicals again!

Broadway is about to #GETSHUCKED

Shucked features a book by Tony Award® winner Robert Horn and a score by the Nashville songwriting team of Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, who collectively have earned three Grammy Awards® and 18 Grammy nominations.


Camelot

Opening Date: April 13, 2023

Lincoln Center Theater will bring the world of Lerner & Loewe’s Camelot to vibrant life once again when it produces a new version of the classic tale, reimagined for the 21st century. Featuring a book by Academy and Emmy Award winning writer Aaron Sorkin, based on the original book by Alan Jay Lerner, and direction by Bartlett Sher.


Life of Pi

Opening Date: March 30, 2023

Based on one of the best-loved works of fiction – winner of the Man Booker Prize, selling over fifteen million copies worldwide – Life of Pi is a breathtaking new theatrical adaptation of an epic journey of endurance and hope.


Jonas Brothers

First Preview: March 14, 2023
Opening Date: March 14, 2023

The Grammy-nominated band The Jonas Brothers will set up shop March 14–18, with each night of their residency dedicated to one of their six albums, including Jonas Brothers; A Little Bit Longer; Lines, Vines, and Trying Times; Happiness Begins; and their forthcoming release, The Album.


Peter Pan Goes Wrong

First Preview: March 17, 2023
Opening Date: April 19, 2023

This spring, brace yourself for an awfully big adventure as you finally get the chance to laugh again on Broadway.

Peter Pan Goes Wrong, the international comedy sensation from Mischief, will premiere on Broadway with a limited 16 ½ week engagement at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.


Fat Ham

Fat Ham, the deliciously funny, Pulitzer Prize-winning new play, comes to Broadway following a critically acclaimed, sold-out run at The Public Theater.


New York, New York

The Thanksgiving Play

MacArthur Genius Larissa FastHorse’s shocking satire flips the bird on one of America's most prolific myths. THE THANKSGIVING PLAY arrives on Broadway in a brutally funny and raw new production directed by Tony Award winner Rachel Chavkin (Hadestown, Great Comet).

Ragtime

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Ragtime, the Entertainment Community Fund is hosting a one night only benefit reunion concert, originally scheduled for 2020. The event will star original Broadway cast members including Emmy, Grammy and six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald ("Sarah"), two-time Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell ("Coalhouse Walker, Jr.") and SAG Award winner Peter Friedman ("Tateh"), with Tony Award winner Kelli O'Hara ("Mother") in the role originally performed by the late Marin Mazzie.

Tony Award nominee and four-time Emmy Award® winner Laura Linney (My Name Is Lucy Barton, Lillian Hellman’s The Little Foxes) returns to Broadway in a new play by Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Auburn (Proof, The Columnist). This deeply moving, insightful piece is about connection, memories, and the small moments that can change the course of our lives.


Good Night, Oscar

Sean Hayes will return to Broadway this spring starring in Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Doug Wright’s new play, Good Night, Oscar, directed by Lisa Peterson, at the Belasco Theatre. Hayes plays Oscar Levant: Hollywood actor, concert pianist, and the most subversive wit ever to appear on television during its Golden Age.


Prima Facie

Jodie Comer (“Killing Eve,” Free Guy) will make her highly anticipated Broadway debut in the US premiere of Prima Facie, a new play by Suzie Miller, for a strictly limited 10-week engagement.


The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window

First Preview: April 25, 2023
Opening Date: April 27, 2023

The sold-out and highly acclaimed BAM production of Lorraine Hansberry’s The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window, starring Oscar Isaac and Rachel Brosnahan, will transfer to Broadway this season. Directed by Anne Kauffman, this strictly limited engagement will begin performances on Tuesday, April 25 for 80 performances only.


Grey House

First Preview: April 29, 2023
Opening Date: May 30, 2023

Two-time Tony Award® winner Laurie Metcalf (A Doll’s House, Part 2) stars in this first-of-its-kind Broadway experience, alongside Emmy® Award winner Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) and Emmy nominee Paul Sparks (House of Cards). With direction by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (The Humans, Wicked), and written by Levi Holloway.
