The new initiative is designed for students to receive leadership training from non-binary, trans, and gender-expansive professionals.

The Drama department at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts has announced the launch of a gender-expansive mentorship program, a new initiative that allows students to learn leadership skills and the business side of the arts from non-binary, trans, and gender-expansive professionals.

The program, a collaboration with entertainment communications professional Ella Mora, will pair third- and fourth-year students with successful arts professionals and alumni who work in marketing, commercial production, and other areas in the business of arts.

The initiative is application-based, and will allow students to meet from mentors monthly from October through May. Students will also be able to participate in a kick-off event and professional development workshops throughout the year.

“The Gender-Expansive Mentorship Program represents a significant step forward in our commitment to diversity and inclusion," Jessica Genick, program manager for Career Development and Alumni Relations, said in a statement. "The students will gain firsthand experience in their field and invaluable insights from professionals."
