Springboard to Design, a theatrical design mentorship and education program for students from underrepresented communities, will be held July 6-12, 2025 at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts' Harvey Fierstein Theatre Lab.
Presented by Design Action and led by industry professionals, Springboard to Design offers hands-on workshops, seminars, and educational access to theatrical work on and off-Broadway. This year, the program has partnered with The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and the Studio School of Design to continue to support students interested in costume, set, lighting, projection, and sound design.
Applications will open to the public this month. Past experience in theatre is not required.
Design Action is an intergenerational coalition of BIPOC and white designers working to end racial inequities in North American theatre by confronting racism in the workplace and forging new pathways into the industry for rising designers of color. Springboard to Design was incubated by the American Theatre Wing.
