Broadway continued to enjoy a holiday boost likely due to an influx of tourists in town for the December celebrations. This is especially notable since several shows played only seven performances (instead of the typical eight) last week. For the week ending December 24, the 27 Broadway productions grossed a total of $33,479,026, up 6.4% from the previous week.

Leading the pack was the long-running hit The Lion King, which brought in a staggering $3,104,271. While the Disney musical was the sole member of the $3 Million Club, there were three productions that entered the also-impressive $2 Million Club: Wicked ($2,525,966), Hamilton ($2,316,949), and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ($2,037,202). Rounding out the top five was another Disney favorite, Aladdin, which took in $1,931,383.

Attendance also increased slightly last week, with 226,167 theatregoers catching a Broadway show. The average paid admission was $148.03, up more than eight dollars from the previous week.
