Bay Street Theater’s production of My Fair Lady, which began performances at the Sag Harbor venue August 2, has extended its run. Originally scheduled through August 28, the limited engagement will now continue through September 4.

Tony nominee Michael Arden directs the classic musical, which has book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. The musical is based on George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion and Gabriel Pascal's motion picture.

The production stars Paul Alexander Nolan as Professor Henry Higgins and Kelli Barrett as Eliza Doolittle. Nolan replaced the previously announced Douglas Hodge, who had to withdraw from the production due to scheduling conflicts with two television series.

Also starring are Tony nominee Howard McGillin as Colonel Pickering, Tony Award winner Carole Shelley as Mrs. Higgins, Karen Murphy as Mrs. Pearce/Mrs. Eynsford-Hill, John O'Creagh as Alfred P. Doolittle, Bobby Conte Thornton as Freddy Eynsford-Hill and Ryan Fitzgerald as Karpathy with Kyle Barisch, Jen Bechter, Roger Dewitt, Meghan LaFlam, Mickey Rafalski, Lindsay Roberts and Bradley Allan Zarr.

“When Eliza Doolittle, a cockney flower seller, meets the imperious and attractive Professor Henry Higgins one night in Covent Garden, they agree to embark on a daring experiment together,” according to production notes. “Higgins wagers that he can transform the ’deliciously low‘ Eliza into a lady fit for society by teaching her to speak more beautifully. Sparks fly in what becomes a funny and ferocious battle of the sexes, a struggle of classes, and a rollicking romance.”

The production team includes Chase Brock (choreography), Adam Wachter (music director), Dane Laffrey (set design), Asta Bennie Hostetter and Dane Laffrey (costume design), Howell Binkley (lighting design), Joel Abbott (sound design), Andrew Diaz (props design), Meg Murphy (hair and makeup design) and Stephen Gabis (dialect coach). Casting is by Stewart/Whitley.

Arden’s new production features two pianos and 15 actors. Arden was nominated for a Tony for his direction of the recent revival of Spring Awakening.
