Massachusetts' Barrington Stage Company has found the cast for its upcoming world premiere of Ben Diskant's The Weekend: A Stockbridge Story, directed by Artistic Director Alan Paul. The production plays the company's St. Germain Stage September 16-October 12, with opening set for September 21.
Starring will be Bill Army (The Band's Visit), Sasha Diamond (The Equalizer), Molly Jobe (Waitress), and ben Rosenfield (Through a Glass Darkly).
The work centers on a romantic getaway at a Stockbridge cabin between Beth and Tom that gets crashed by Tom's brother Allan.
The production will feature scenic design by Wilson Chin, costume design by Ricky Reynoso, lighting design by Amina Alexander, sand sound design and original music by Fabian Obispo. Leslie Sears will serve as production stage manager with Aurora Courcy as assistant stage manager.
“We are thrilled to bring Ben Diskant’s The Weekend to life here in the Berkshires, where the play is both set and deeply rooted,” says Paul in a statement. “Premiering this story on our stage allows audiences to experience the humor, complexity, and humanity of a piece that feels like it could only have been born in this landscape. It’s a joy to shepherd a world premiere that speaks so directly to our community while resonating far beyond it.”
Tickets are at BarringtonStageCo.org.
