Overview
The Lighting Design Group, (LDG) www.ldg.com, an internationally recognized broadcast and entertainment lighting design firm in New York City, seeks an experienced Purchasing & Equipment Manager. This position is responsible for the efficient purchasing of equipment as well as managing a small inventory of LED broadcast lighting equipment, in support of LDG’s projects. This is a full-time staff position with benefits.
LDG is a leader in our industry and values our direct relationships with all major manufacturers in our field. We leverage this to provide the best broadcast lighting design and installation services for top broadcast networks worldwide. The Purchasing and Equipment Manager is an important member of our in-house production team.
Reports to: Vice President of Operations
Responsibilities:
· Assist designers, technical experts, and project managers in translating designer equipment needs into viable equipment lists.
· Review equipment lists with a critical eye in terms of necessary accessories, usability and possible substitutions if required and appropriate.
· Manage and develop relationships with vendors and manufacturers.
· Proactively negotiate and manage pricing.
· Price equipment lists for project budgeting by project managers.
· Make equipment purchases upon approval by project managers providing tracking and billing information to project managers.
· Maintain database of owned equipment, both for resale, in-house use and financial accountability.
· Oversee care and maintenance of LDG-owned equipment.
· Proactively communicate with production department (PMs) and accounting department to ensure that projects run and close out smoothly.
Requirements:
· Mandatory: 3 – 5 years of lighting experience, which may be in field or shop as designer or technician.
· 2-4 years of experience in the entertainment industry preferred.
· Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and database software.· Strong work ethic; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; outstanding team player.
This is an in-person position, working at LDG’s NY office, with an option to move to hybrid (3 days in office) upon completion of training. Salary is commensurate with experience, in the $80,000- $115,000 range. LDG offers an excellent benefits package after probationary period.
