Overview:
The Juilliard School’s mission is to provide the highest caliber of artistic education for gifted musicians, dancers, and actors from around the world. Juilliard is seeking a Manager of Public Performance Operations to oversee front-of-house operations for its five premier theaters and versatile multi-use spaces. This critical leadership role ensures world-class service and exceptional experiences for diverse audiences, including the general public, students, faculty, and distinguished guests.
As a key member of the Operations team, the Manager will set the standard for excellence in performance and event management, fostering collaboration across departments and embodying Juilliard’s commitment to inclusivity, safety, and artistic innovation.
The salary range for this role is $80,000-$82,000 annually.

Role Responsibilities:
- Leadership in Front-of-House Operations:
- Oversee all front-of-house functions, delivering the highest standards of performance management across Juilliard’s theaters and multi-use venues.
- Team Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise a dedicated team of house managers, captains, and ushers, fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism.
- Safety and Emergency Preparedness:
- Lead training on safety and emergency response protocols, working closely with Public Safety to ensure a secure and welcoming environment for all visitors and staff.
- Premium Guest Experience:
- Design and implement initiatives to provide a consistently outstanding experience for audience members, including tailored services for ADA accessibility and Relaxed Performances.
- Collaborative Partnerships:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including Box Office, Public Safety, Production, Facilities, and academic departments, ensuring seamless event execution.
- Technology Administration:
- Manage and optimize systems supporting access control and usher scheduling, in collaboration with IT and other departments.
- Budget Oversight:
- Prepare and manage budgets for staffing, equipment, and operational supplies, aligning resources with organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 5-10 years in theatrical management, preferably within multi-theater venues in a high-profile urban environment.
- Skills and Expertise:
- Deep understanding of public safety protocols and guest experience enhancement.
- Proven ability to manage complex staffing needs within budgetary constraints.
- Familiarity with student performances and educational institutions is a strong plus.
- Personal Attributes:
- Highly organized and adaptable to both structured and dynamic settings.
- Evening and weekend availability for event supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders.
