Costume Design Assistant
Piper Theatre Productions | Brooklyn, NY

Piper Theatre Productions is seeking a Costume Design Assistant to work with designer Nene Withers on our summer youth productions of The Prom, Alice by Heart, Celtic Tales, and The Wizard of Oz.

This position runs June 29 – July 20, 2026 and will support the costume design process from build through performance.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with costume construction and alterations

• Organizing costume pieces and wardrobe areas

• Supporting fittings with student actors (ages 11–16)

• Assisting the designer during rehearsals and tech as needed

Qualifications:

• Sewing and basic costume construction experience required

• Strong organizational skills

• Previous experience working with young performers preferred

• Patience, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit

We are especially excited to work with someone curious, inventive, and eager to learn. The best candidates often bring creative problem-solving to the process. For example: Have you ever built a garment from thrifted clothing or unconventional materials?

Compensation: $17/hour. 70 hours to be worked out with Costume Shop Manager.
