DESCRIPTION

The Dramatists Guild of America was established in 1919 to help dramatists protect the artistic and economic integrity of their work and to advocate on their behalf. The Guild has over 8,000 members nationwide, from student writers to the most prominent authors being produced on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in regional theaters. The Guild assists dramatists in developing both their artistic and business skills through its educational programs, publications, seminars, workshops, and its Business Affairs department, which provides model agreement forms, reviews contracts, and offers business advice on standard practices in the theater industry.

Position Title: Communications Manager

Description:

The Dramatists Guild of America is looking for a full-time Communications Manager. The Communications Manager works closely with the Executive Director and is responsible for managing the organization’s internal and external communications. The ideal candidate will need to be organized, able to multitask, meet deadlines, and think analytically and strategically.

Duties of this position include but are not limited to: creating content, designing marketing campaigns, monitoring social media channels, and representing the brand. The Communications Manager will:

Develop printed and digital content and direct creative execution to provide a consistent, targeted, and impactful message.

Write copy for newsletters, memos, and other marketing materials, such as blogs, web pages, and press releases.

Developing campaigns to target specific audiences and analyzing the impact of communication activities.

Oversee external communication channels like social media, company websites, and media relations.

Provide hands-on advertising support for assigned departments, paying close attention to timelines.

Develop an understanding of short- and long-term department goals and planned initiatives.

Adjust and communicate plan changes as necessary to ensure costs for materials, media, and labor are in line with the sales potential for a specific product or campaign.

Work with leadership to take the pulse of overall business activity to identify cross-marketing opportunities.

Stay informed of developments in the field of marketing and communications within the industry to foster ideas and innovation.

Requirements:

Knowledge of online CRM tools (familiarity with Zoho, in particular)

Proficiency working with MS Office, Canva, Adobe suite of products.

Familiarity with email marketing programs such as Mailchimp and Constant Contact.

Strong familiarity with social media platforms, especially Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).

Strong organizational and time management skills with sharp attention to detail.

Excellent verbal communication skills when speaking with colleagues and outside parties.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate across internal and external work teams by developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.

Flexible and adaptable team player with high initiative, adept at prioritizing time-sensitive tasks and working independently.

Web design experience and basic HTML knowledge a plus.

Salary (Non Exempt): $60,000/year
