The Play Group Theatre (PGT), a creative, inclusive, educational theatre for children and teenagers in downtown White Plains, is seeking a Part-Time Communications and Marketing Manager to help share the mission, programs, and spirit of our vibrant community.
The Play Group Theatre (PGT) is a nonprofit theatre organization dedicated to providing a nurturing, creative home for young artists. Founded in 1995, PGT has served thousands of students through a wide offering of classes, school residencies, summer camps, and performance-based programs. Located in a state-of-the-art facility in White Plains, NY, PGT is known for its commitment to artistic rigor, student-centered pedagogy, and inclusive community.
The Communications and Marketing Manager will develop and implement communications and marketing efforts across social and traditional media to support student and audience recruitment and retention, strengthen community relationships, and promote PGT’s diverse program offerings and productions. The Communications and Marketing Manager is a key member of a small team, working together to ensure that PGT’s mission is met, and that the core values of PGT are communicated to the wider community. This position reports directly to the Artistic Director and Executive Director.
- Develop and implement year-round marketing campaigns to promote PGT’s wide-ranging programs, productions, and events.
- Craft engaging messaging that builds awareness of PGT productions, class and program registrations, special events, and key moments throughout the season.
- Manage and grow PGT’s digital footprint across social platforms, email marketing, and website content.
- Create compelling visual and written content that celebrates PGT’s wide-ranging programs, welcoming facilities, and committed staff.
- Strengthen relationships with schools, community partners, local organizations, and media outlets to expand PGT’s reach.
- Build campaigns and partnerships aimed at audience development and student enrollment, focusing on both new and returning families.
- Highlight PGT’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion through initiatives such as our Sensory Friendly Performances, and our Arts in Education program.
- Manage media relations, including press releases, feature pitches, and local press engagement.
- Oversee print advertising, flyers, posters, playbills, and other promotional materials.
- Ensure brand consistency across all internal and external communications.
- Track and analyze marketing performance metrics to inform future strategy and improve marketing and outreach efforts
- Identify trends, opportunities, and innovative approaches to deepen community connection and drive program participation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Arts Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong Graphic Design skills
- Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone for various audiences and platforms.
- 3–5 years of marketing experience, ideally in arts, education, or nonprofit sectors.
- Experience with social media management.
- Proficiency with all major social media platforms, email marketing tools (constant contact), basic design software (canva), Scheduling tools (buffer), HTML/PHP, iMovie
- Experience with community outreach and audience development a plus.
- Enthusiasm for youth theatre, arts education, and community-building.
- A self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A collaborative mindset and a desire to work closely with a creative team.
PGT provides a competitive and equitable salary package in the range of $35,000 to $45,000, which includes generous paid time off and holidays. Full tuition is covered for children of staff members for all on-site PGT programs, including summer camps.
