Breakdown

A PIECE OF MY HEART


SYNOPSIS Set during the Vietnam War, A Piece of My Heart follows six women who serve overseas as nurses, USO performers, and volunteers; each grappling with courage, fear, friendship, and the lasting cost of war. A powerful, female-driven drama that honors service while confronting trauma and resilience.


SEEKING:

Whitney: A Vassar grad - intelligent, withdrawn, and self-contained, seeking adventure beyond teaching. Age range 25-35 years.

Martha: Strong, disciplined army brat, learns Vietnam is harder than expected. Age range 25 – 35 years

LeeAnn: A tough, urban, Asian American who deals with racism and identity issues. Age range 25-35 years

Sissy: Sweet and naïve with a great sense of fun. She is from Pennsylvania and is looking for adventure. Age range 20-30 years

Steele: Strong and intelligent African-American nurse. Steele is from the South and is often treated as an outsider. Age range 35-55 years

MaryJo: Bubbly, Texas country singer, uses music and humor, but carries deep sadness. Age range 20-30 years – able to play guitar.

Man (Male, 20s–40s) ROLE IS CAST. Doubles several characters. Soldiers, officers, doctors, civilians.
