My Best Friend's Wedding, a new musical based on the 1997 film, makes its world premiere at Ogunquit Playhouse September 26, with performances set to continue through October 27. Tony winner Kathleen Marshall is directing at the Maine venue.

The cast is led by Krystal Joy Brown (Merrily We Roll Along) as Julianne, Tony winner Matt Doyle (Company) as Michael, Lianah Sta. Ana (Miss Saigon) as Kimmy, Morgan Bryant (Mean Girls national tour) as Samantha, Zoe Jensen (Six) as Amanda, Telly Leung (Aladdin) as George, Mark Lotito (Some Like It Hot) as Walter, Austin Phillips (Parade) as Scotty, and Soara-Joye Ross (Hadestown) as Isabelle.

The ensemble includes Kailey Boyle, Daniel Brackett, Runako Campbell, Deanna Cudjoe, Aaron Graham, Harris Matthew, Jessica Sheridan, Mikayla Thrasher, and Craig Waletzko with Kaitie Buckert and Raphe Gilliam as swings.

Adapted from Ron Bass' screenplay, the musical follows food critic Julianne Potter as she attempts to rekindle a relationship with an old flame...at his wedding. The Julia Roberts-led screen version famously included a group performance of Burt Bacharach and Hal David's "I Say a Little Prayer" (led by Rupert Everett). This stage version also includes the pair's "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" (originally written for Broadway's Promises, Promises), "I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself," "Walk On By," "What's New Pussycat?," and more songs from the Bacharach-David song catalogue. The musical's book is co-written by Bass and Jonathan Harvey.

The production features music direction by Andrew Sotomayor, scenic and costume design by Colin Richmond, lighting design by Richard Latta, sound design by Kevin Heard, and wig, hair, and makeup design by Roxanne De Luna. Nikki Lint is the production stage manager. Casting is by ARC's Mark Brandon and Jarrett Reiche.

The musical was previously set to premiere in 2020 with an Ireland and U.K. tour. That plan was initially postponed and later canceled due to the pandemic.
