News Will Lea Michele's Funny Girl Dreams Come True on This Season's "Glee"? (Photo) Spring Awakening actress Lea Michele, who stars as Rachel Berry on the Fox hit musical series "Glee," was seen on the corner of 44th Street in Times Square, where a fake marquee for a revival of Funny Girl hangs at Broadway's St. James Theatre. Will Michele finally land the coveted role of Fanny Brice on this season's "Glee"?

"Glee" co-creator Ryan Murphy tweeted Sept. 9 a photo of the actress in front of the St. James with the caption, "Funny Girl." Following his post, Michelle — who refers to herself on Twitter as a "Streisand Worshiper" — tweeted the same photo and added, "#GleeinNYC #FunnyGirl #Broadway."

The fourth season of "Glee" came to a close with Michele's character in callbacks for a Broadway revival of Funny Girl.

Producers such as Bob Boyett have reportedly expressed interest in Michele taking on the role of Fanny Brice in a possible real-life Broadway return of the Tony-nominated musical by Bob Merrill (lyrics), Jule Styne (music) and Isobel Lennart (book).

The fifth season of "Glee" will premiere Sept. 26. Visit Fox.com/Glee.
