Zoë Kim's Did You Eat? (밥 먹었니?) officially opened October 24 Off-Broadway at the Public, and the reviews are in. The extended run continues through November 16.

Presented by Ma-Yi Theater Company, Kim's autobiographical solo show explores love’s many forms–how it’s learned, given, and reflected inward. The staging is directed by Chris Yejin and features choreography by Iris McCloughan.

In the work, Kim shapeshifts into the souls of her family through a landscape of memories where tears and laughter collide, exploring Korean-American identity, belonging, and healing.

Did You Eat? (밥 먹었니?) was previously staged at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe Festival for a successful three-week run, which garnered positive reviews from critics. Kim penned a trio of essays for Playbill about the experience, writing: "I made Did You Eat? (밥 먹었니?) as a love language to my inner child, as an expression of self-love to who I am, and as a love letter to all Korean daughters." Read the first essay in the series here.

The Ma-Yi Theater Company and Public Theater production marks the beginning of Ma-Yi's residency at the Public, which will also includes the world premiere of Jeena Yi’s JESA.
