Broadway Cares Executive Director Tom Viola will receive the Gary Miller Award February 13, 2023, at Harmony, the annual gala benefit of Big Apple Performing Arts, home of New York City Gay Men’s Chorus, Youth Pride Chorus, and a cappella ensemble Tonewall.

NY1's Frank DiLella will host the celebration, which begins at 6 PM with cocktails at the Edison Rooftop in Hotel Edison Times Square. The evening will also include dinner, award presentations, performances, and an auction.

The Gary Miller Award, created in 2015 to honor the founding artistic director of the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus, is given to honor those whose work has created change in the community. Through Broadway Cares, Viola has spent decades raising awareness and funds to help those with HIV/AIDS.

The evening will also honor Hadestown's T. Oliver Reid, co-founder of Black Theater Coalition, with Big Apple Performing Arts' Arts in Action Award, given to an artist who has used his success in the entertainment field to inspire change, typically within the LGBT community.

Dr. Scott Hadland, Chief of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at MassGeneral, will receive the newly created Community Call to Action Award, recognizing those who have had a significant impact on both the LGBTQ+ and broader communities through dedication, action, and advocacy.
