To celebrate the return of Taco Bell's fan-favorite menu item Mexican pizza, the fast food chain will be presenting the satirical musical Mexican Pizza: The Musical on the Taco Bell TikTok account May 26 at 8PM ET.
The musical tells the story of those who fought to bring the menu item back. Taco Bell removed Mexican pizza from their menu in 2020 in an effort to streamline their "restaurant experience." The work is written by Hannah Friedman (Trolls: The Beat Goes On!, Obi-Wan Kenobi) with original music by the Grammy Award-winning duo behind The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical, Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear.

Grammy winner Doja Cat will appear in the musical, alongside TikToker Victor Kunda, both of whom spoke the musical into existence with their viral musical content. The "Say So!" singer posted a video of herself singing a jingle dedicated to the menu item and the TikToker choreographed a musical number using the audio.
Country singer Dolly Parton announced that she is involved in the musical via an Instagram post. She shared a photo of the confidential script with text on the bottom that reads "Care of Dolly Parton."
In addition, Taco Bell’s ad agency Deutsch LA worked in partnership with Taco Bell Design and Playbill to create an official Playbill program using PLAYBILLder.com.
The beloved menu item will return to menus nationwide May 19. The Mexican pizza is made of two crispy flour shells, layered with beans, pizza sauce, seasoned beef, tomatoes, and a three cheese blend. Fans of the item created a petition to bring it back on Change.org and it has since been labeled as a victory with more than 171,725 signatures.
The musical can be streamed on TikTok May 26 at 8 PM ET.
